On Thursday, Mr. Abdisalam Abdi Ali , Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Federal Republic of Somalia, arrived in the capital, Tripoli, on an official visit to participate in the inauguration ceremony of the headquarters of the Executive Secretariat of the Community of Sahel-Saharan States (CEN-SAD), scheduled to take place Saturday 11/4/2026.
The Minister and his accompanying delegation were received at the VIP lounge of Mitiga International Airport by Mr. Fathallah Al-Zeni, Minister of State for African Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, along with Mr. Najib Al-Rayani, Director of the Arab Affairs Department, and Mr. Abdelnasser Younes, Director of the African Affairs Department at the Ministry.
Somalia’s high-level participation in this regional event reflects its official support for the return of the Executive Secretariat to resume its functions from the heart of the capital, Tripoli, in light of the stability and development being witnessed in Libya under the Government of National Unity.
It is worth noting that the reopening of the headquarters of the Executive Secretariat comes after comprehensive modernization and upgrading works, transforming it into an advanced logistical and administrative hub that meets the aspirations of Member States and contributes to strengthening economic and security integration in the Sahel-Saharan region, in line with the highest international standards.
